FAQs
Which Antigua is this?
Our wedding will be taking place in Antigua, Guatemala (not to be confused with Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean). Antigua is a colonial city, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Which airport should I fly into? How do I get to Antigua?
Please ensure you are flying into La Aurora International Airport (GUA). There are direct flights from LAX, SFO, DFW, ATL, EWR, and JFK. The airport is approximately 1 hour from Antigua. Please navigate to Travel & Accommodations to arrange transportation.
Do I need a visa prior to my travels?
A visa is not required for short-term travel for U.S. citizens and Canadians. However, your passport must have a six-month validity period to enter Guatemala. Please click here for details on visa requirements for all nationals.
When do I need to arrive for the wedding?
We recommend arriving on January 23rd to ensure you can attend the Haldi/Mehndi and Sangeet on January 24th and the Wedding and Reception on January 25th.
Please feel free to extend your stay to visit other parts of Guatemala and enjoy the beautiful weather in January!
Can we bring additional guests or family members who were not invited?
Due to the intimate nature of our wedding and strict space limitations, we kindly insist that only the guests listed on the invitation attend. Thank you for understanding!
Can we bring children to the wedding?
Due to space limitations and venue restrictions, we must respectfully insist that no children under 18 attend. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
What do I wear for the wedding events?
Suggested attire is on our wedding weekend page linked here. When purchasing Indian wear, please account for several weeks of time for tailoring and shipping. Most Indian wear is made to your exact measurements and then take about a week to arrive in the US. This entire process may take up to 3-4 weeks. For budget-friendly Indian wear, check out Indya, Lashkaraa, Etsy, and Amazon. For designer options, try Kalki, Aza, or Pernia’s Pop-up Shop. And for those that need last minute finds, visit Pioneer Street in Artesia (also known as Little India to some) and Kynah, a designer boutique storefront in Santa Monica.
What's the weather like in January in Antigua?
During the day, the weather is pleasant and hovers around 70°F - 75°F which is 21°C - 24°C. In the evenings, it gets a bit chilly and hovers around 55°F - 60°F which is 13°C - 16°C. Please pack accordingly for your trip.
Where can we stay?
We have hotel suggestions on the Travel & Accommodations page , all of which are 10-12 minutes walking distance to the event locations and central to Antigua. Please keep in mind that most hotels in Antigua reflect the colonial feel of the City. However, you are welcome to utilize AirBnB if you prefer.
How can we get around in Antigua?
Uber is available in Antigua. However, Antigua is a beautiful and completely walkable city.
What is the optional Lake Atitlan trip?
We are planning a trip to Lake Atitlan following the wedding and encourage guests to visit while you’re in Guatemala. There are many towns along Lake Atitlan and you can take water taxis (called lanchas) to travel between these towns. Shrota will share a draft itinerary and you can join on some of the activities or do your own thing!
Do you have a registry?
We have set up a honeymoon fund you can access here! No boxed gifts please.
